What is WVWC Day of Giving?

WVWC Day of Giving is the college’s annual 24-hour giving campaign that inspires alumni, students, friends, faculty and staff, and supporters to come together, show their pride in their alma mater, and provide essential funding to support current and future students. This annual event shines a spotlight on giving on the College and creates a sense of energy around philanthropy.

When is it?

Giving Day will take place on February 29, 2024.

What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.

Who can donate?

Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet.

Can I participate in the Giving Day if I did not graduate from WVWC?

Yes! Students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends are encouraged to support the college on Giving Day. When prompted in the giving form, you select the role you most closely affiliate with. The gifts of many come together to support the transformational student experience at Wesleyan.

What forms of donations are accepted?

MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express are accepted on the website. Cash, checks, gifts of stock, and gifts-in-kind are accepted via mail or in the Office of Advancement. Please call 304-473-8509 for more information.

Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes. You will automatically receive an emailed receipt acknowledging your gift. 

Is there a minimum gift?

There is a $5 minimum donation.

Where does my Giving Day gift go?

WVWC Day 2024 is focused on renewing the Rockefeller Center gymnasium with the purchase of a set of bleachers for the upper level balcony--though, of course, alumni and friend donors may designate their gift to any fund on campus!

Is my payment secure?

Absolutely - The Giving Day is facilitated by GiveGab, a company that has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts made through GivingDay.org. Read through Stripe's security documentation online.

Can I send a gift by mail or phone?

Yes! If you would like to make a gift by phone on February 29, please call (304) 473-8509. Otherwise, please ensure you gift is postmarked before February 29th to make it count on that day.

Is my contribution to WVWC Day of Giving tax deductible?

Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.

Does it cost anything to give through WVWC Day of Giving? How much of my donation will the University receive?

There is a 3.5% processing fee and a 2.5% (+ $.30) bank fee for donations made using all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express). You have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift. If you choose not to do so, the cost will be absorbed through the college’s administrative budget, leaving 100% of your gift to support students and to remain tax deductible.

What if I already made a gift to the College this year?

First: thank you! WVWC Day is focused on specific campus initiatives, so even if you have already given we would ask you to consider an additional gift to support those causes. Every gift helps

Can I use my employer's matching gifts funds?

Yes! We strongly encourage you to take advantage of your employer's generosity to enhance the impact of your support at the College. To see if your company offers this benefit or to learn more about your company's guidelines, visit our matching gift portal.
